Frequently Asked Questions About Neck & Spine Injections

Descriptive text

Spine and neck injections are medical treatments used to relieve pain and inflammation in the spine and neck area. They can target conditions such as herniated discs, nerve compression, or arthritis. These injections often contain a combination of corticosteroids and local anesthetics.

Injections are typically recommended when other pain management options, like physical therapy, have not provided relief. They are often used for conditions like neck pain, sciatica, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, and nerve compression.

The injection delivers anti-inflammatory medication directly into the affected area, targeting nerves, discs, or joints. This helps reduce pain, inflammation, and muscle spasms, providing relief and aiding in the healing process.

Spine and neck injections are typically performed under local anesthesia and, in some cases, with sedation. The doctor uses a needle guided by imaging techniques (like fluoroscopy) to inject the medication precisely into the problem area.

Most patients experience minimal discomfort during the injection. You may feel a brief pinch or pressure, but the injection itself is usually well tolerated. Afterward, some soreness or mild discomfort can occur, but it typically subsides within a few days.

The injection procedure usually takes around 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the complexity of the treatment.
